Gardena : Council Salary Increase
The City Council introduced an ordinance Tuesday that would double council members’ salaries, to $400 a month from $200.
The increase is the maximum set by state code for cities with populations between 35,000 and 50,000.
Additional salary for the mayor would increase to $200 a month from $100.
City Manager Ken Landau said council salaries have not been increased for at least nine years. And he noted that, unlike some cities, Gardena does not provide expense accounts for council members.
The ordinance will be voted on at the council meeting July 8.
