Hermosa Beach : Bare-Bones Budget Adopted

Share

The City Council approved an $11.6-million budget for the 1986-87 fiscal year Tuesday, a bare-bones document that calls for $200,000 in increased revenues from stricter parking enforcement.

The budget allocates $120,000 to hire four parking enforcement employees, despite concerns raised by Mayor Tony DeBellis that the city will regain its reputation as the parking-ticket capital of the South Bay.

“I really hate to do this, quite honestly,” said DeBellis, in joining in the unanimous vote to approve the budget and the stricter parking enforcement. “I hate to be known as the city that gives out parking tickets.”

The budget also allocates $9,500 for civil defense training for city employees, while eliminating $2,500 for Christmas decorations.
