Former University of Nevada Las Vegas basketball player John Flowers was arrested on charges he tried to sexually assault a woman, then stole jewelry from her.
Flowers, a 6-foot 9-inch, 235-pound senior, was being held in the Clark County Detention Center on charges of burglary, robbery and attempted sexual assault, according to police.
The woman said Flowers was a friend of her boyfriend and came to her apartment late Tuesday night and asked if the boyfriend was there. When told he wasn’t, Flowers forced his way in the apartment, the victim reported.
Police said the jewelry was found on the athlete when he was arrested a short time later at a popular bar near the apartment complex.
The incident was the latest in a series of arrests involving UNLV athletes, mainly Rebel football players.
