Culver City : Fireworks Sales Put on Ballot
The City Council on Monday officially placed a controversial proposition on Fourth of July fireworks sales on the Nov. 4 ballot.
The resolution passed 4 to 1, with longtime fireworks opponent Paul A. Jacobs casting the dissenting vote.
The council decided to include on the ballot an impartial analysis of the measure by the city attorney along with arguments for and against the measure.
The council decided in April to prepare the measure, which would allow the sale of state-approved “safe and sane” fireworks to continue in Culver City.
Council members Jacobs, Paul A. Netzel and Jozelle J. Smith have said they oppose continuing fireworks sales, while Councilmen Richard Alexander and Richard Brundo favor them.
