Society clothier Wilkes Bashford pleaded no contest to charges of chiseling San Francisco out of about $1 million in rent at his posh store on city-owned property. Superior Court Judge Daniel Hanlon ordered Bashford to do 1,200 hours of public service and pay $750,000 in overdue rent.
