Local News in Brief : Thousand Oaks Jogger Struck by Car, Killed
A jogger was struck and killed by a car Monday morning in Thousand Oaks after she and her husband stopped in the street to talk with a friend, authorities said.
Linda Pickett, 42, of Thousand Oaks was taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead about 10 a.m., Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. George Conahey said.
The driver of the car, Eileen Gaylord, 25, of Thousand Oaks, was northbound on Moorpark Road about 6:50 a.m. north of Green Meadow Avenue when the accident occurred. Gaylord told authorities she was driving directly into the rising sun and saw the two men but not the woman, Deputy Rick Godfrey said.
Gaylord was not cited, and the accident was under investigation, Godfrey said.
