Kim Saiki, 20, of Costa Mesa, downed Carol Semple Thompson of Sweickley, Pa., 3-and-2, in the 36-hole final of the 44th Broadmoor Ladies Invitational golf tournament Tuesday.

Saiki, a University of California team member, had a three-hole lead at the turn after the morning round, captured the 19th and 20th holes, then fought back and forth with her 33-year-old opponent before finally taking the victory on the 34th.

“I played very well today and I’m very proud to beat a veteran like Carol Semple,” Saiki said.
