Dannemeyer Backs AIDS Quarantine
Rep. William E. Dannemeyer (R-Fullerton) Wednesday became the first public official to support a Nov. 3 ballot initiative sponsored by followers of political extremist Lyndon LaRouche that could result in quarantining AIDS victims and those suspected of carrying the AIDS virus.
In addition, Dannemeyer said that next week he will propose federal legislation to make it a crime for anyone testing positive for the AIDS virus “to be involved in an exchange of bodily fluids,” including kissing.
Led Own Campaign
Dannemeyer, who for months has led his own campaign against AIDS, said he does not favor “bedroom police,” but that his bill would let public health officials and the U.S. attorney general respond to complaints.
Declaring that public health officials have been “intimidated by pressure from the male homosexual community,” Dannemeyer said that more stringent health measures are required to stop AIDS.
“War is too important to be left to generals and public health is too important to be left to public health officials,” the congressman said.
