A lawsuit filed by the National Wildlife Federation, seeking a national ban on the use of lead shot by America’s waterfowl hunters, has been dismissed.
U.S. District Judge Edward Garcia ruled in Sacramento that the suit against the Fish and Wildlife Service was premature because federal regulations on use of lead shot have not been completed. The Fish and Wildlife Service notified Garcia that it plans a national ban on lead shot pellets for waterfowl hunting within five years to stop the poisoning of bald eagles and migratory waterfowl.
