$100 Million to Aid Nicaragua’s Contras: Pro and Con

Share

Coming from a newspaper that prides itself on objective reporting, your editorial was an astonishing slide into yellow journalism.

Calling this major confrontation between Russia-Cuba and the United States over Marxist control of Nicaragua, “Reagan’s dirty little war” is not only insulting but dangerously deceptive, and it totally begs the question.

Arbitrarily pronouncing the failure of the contras “against a rugged opponent” while in the same breath describing Nicaragua as a “poor, feeble nation” borders on the irrational. A fully armed purveyor of communism, Nicaragua is neither feeble nor weak.
