The Detroit Red Wings’ eight-game 1986-87 exhibition schedule includes one game at the club’s new training camp, one at its former camp and one in Texas.

Detroit opens its training camp Sept. 16 and begins exhibition play Sept. 21 against the St. Louis Blues, the team formerly coached by new Red Wings Coach Jacques Demers.

The game will be played at the IMA Arena in Flint, where Detroit is training for the first time after spending the four previous years at McMorran Arena in Port Huron.

Detroit plays the Edmonton Oilers, 1985-86 Stanley Cup runners-up, Sept. 30 at Reunion Arena in Dallas, then returns to its former training site in Port Huron for an Oct. 3 game against the New Jersey Devils.

The Red Wings’ exhibition season ends Oct. 5 with a road game against Chicago.
