The county Board of Supervisors, in an effort to bring salaries in line with comparable positions statewide, approved pay raises averaging 7% for top county executives and elected officials.
The biggest percentage raises went to Sheriff-Coroner Brad Gates (11.4%), who now will earn $88,026, and William A. Baker, the Community Services Agency director (11.6%.), who will get $65,832.
The highest paid county executive is now County Administrative Officer Larry Parrish (who got a 10% hike), and now earns $99,008. Parrish, who is in his first year on the job, also got a $5,000 performance bonus from the supervisors.
The next highest paid executives are County Counsel Adrian Kuyper and Dist. Atty. Cecil Hicks, who each got a 7% raise to put them at $94,203. Other salaries include County Clerk Gary Granville (8% raise) at $61,568 and Health Care Agency director Tom Uram (7%) at $85,613.
