Use of Eminent Domain and Anaheim City Council
The actions of the Anaheim City Council against the Fujishige family are a pathetic example of unbridled greed, pure and simple.
For the city to hire the developer’s attorney in an effort to assist them in forcing a property owner to sell part of his land is ludicrous. Using the city’s right of “eminent domain” in this instance was totally unfounded. One assumes that the men and women serving on Anaheim’s City Council would be concerned with the interests of the community at large, not with the financial gain of one investor group--and the city’s increased tax base.
The move to force the sale was unjustifiable and, in the light of Mr. Fujishige’s suicide, tragic.
