Orange County Fair Horse Racing : Barland Tops Favored Sun Master

Barland with Eddie Delahoussaye aboard won the the $38,450 running of the Orange County Handicap for 3-year-olds and up at the Los Alamitos Race Course Saturday night before a season-high 11,657 spectators. The race was run as part of the 13-night Orange County Fair racing program.

Barland passed race favorite Sun Master in the last turn and took the lead coming down the stretch to win by 3 3/4 lengths. Barland covered the 1 1/8-mile course in 1.48.1 and paid $13.80, $7 and $5.40. Bozina with Antionoi Castanon aboard finished second and paid $8 and $5.20. Stickette finished third and paid $ 5.20.

Sun Master finished last.
