The daughter of a Watts businessman has been charged with perjury in testimony at the trial of her brother, who was eventually convicted of killing a reputed gang member. Cynthia Hawkins, 27, whose brother, James Hawkins Jr., 41, was sentenced to 28 years in prison for killing reputed gang member Anttwon Thomas in 1983, was allowed to remain free on her own recognizance. She faces arraignment in Superior Court on July 24. Prosecutors said that Hawkins, the daughter of businessman James Hawkins Sr., perjured herself last year in an attempt to discredit a prosecution witness.
