United Technologies reported net income of $64.9 million for the second quarter, including the effect of the recently reported provision for estimated contract losses at Norden Systems of about $155 million. In the second quarter of 1985, UTC’s net income totaled $54.8 million, including losses of $96.9 million from discontinued operations. The improved results were attributed to a strong showing by the Hartford, Conn.-based firm’s Pratt & Whitney commercial engine business and its automotive group.
