Share

Police are asking for assistance in solving four Fourth of July armed robberies that they believe were committed by one man.

The robberies took place in less than two hours. Two people were robbed after using automatic bank teller machines. The other two victims were women whose purses were taken while they were sitting in cars.

The first holdup occurred in Santa Ana at MacArthur and Harbor boulevards, followed by one in Garden Grove at Harbor Boulevard and Flagstone Avenue. The third robbery occurred in Santa Ana at 17th Street and Grand Avenue.

After the fourth stickup at 4th Street and Tustin Avenue in Santa Ana, the victim followed and tried to block the gunman’s pickup truck with his own car, and a minor collision occurred. Police say they hope someone will spot an all-white 1983 or 1984 Toyota pickup truck with damage to the right door.

The robber, who used a small-caliber pistol and made off with a total of $220, is described as a male in his late 20s, about 5 feet, 9 inches and 155 pounds. He has collar-length blond hair parted on the side and blue eyes.

To provide any information on the robberies, citizens have been asked to call Investigator Gary Bruce of the Santa Ana Police Department at (714) 834-4232.
