Inland Steel, the nation’s fifth-largest steel company, reported its first quarterly profit since the second quarter of 1984 but added that it sees a loss for the third quarter and the year. The company said it made $15.7 million in the quarter, compared to a loss of $29.5 million in 1985’s second quarter. Revenue for the period was $815.8 million, up from last year’s $790.2 million. Inland attributed the second-quarter profit to lower steel manufacturing costs.
