There are two Jorge Garcias in Los Angeles County, each with the same birth date.
Because of that oddity, Jorge Garcia Soto found out the hard way that his driving record had been listed with warrants for another Jorge Garcia.
Soto was stopped July 7 for making an illegal turn in Orange, and police there found that arrest warrants were outstanding for a Jorge Garcia. Soto argued in vain that he wasn’t that Jorge Garcia, but spent six days in jail before court officials admitted the mistake.
“It is unfortunate for Mr. Soto, and it is with the county’s apologies,” said Beth Van Arnam, a deputy Los Angeles County district attorney.
