Micom Systems said its earnings fell 30% in the first quarter ended June 30 from the same period last year, to $1.7 million, or 10 cents a share. Revenue fell less than 1%, to $46.1 million.

The Simi Valley company, which makes computer communications equipment, said sales were below expectations because of the computer industry slump, increased competition and weakness in the overall economy.
