Viacom International reported an $18-million loss for the second quarter ended June 30, which it attributed to a $28-million after-tax charge resulting from the repurchase of Viacom stock from the Icahn Group. Excluding the extraordinary charge, the company said, it had record earnings from operations for both the quarter and half-year, paced by major gains in broadcasting and cable operations.
