Lawyers representing the owners of the 28 National Football League teams began their opening arguments before a neutral arbitrator in the battle over Commissioner Pete Rozelle’s plan to institute a drug program that includes the random testing of players.
The closed hearing, which began Wednesday with opening arguments by the NFL Players Assn., will move to New York next week. No ruling is expected until September.
