Bridge experts Eric Rodwell of West Lafayette, Ind., and Doug Simson of Columbus, Ohio, won the three-day Life Master Pair Championship here Tuesday night midway through the 14-day North American Championships.

Rodwell won a World Championship in 1981 and has won several North American Championships, but Simson has been playing tournament bridge seriously for only two years. Before entering the Life Master Pairs, chief pair contest of this tournament, the two men had played as partners only twice, in a small duplicate game in a bridge club.

Beverly Rosenberg and Stelios Touchtidis, both of Sherman Oaks, Calif., led the large Southland contingent here, finishing in 10th place. Bill Sides of Arcadia and Harold Guiver of Long Beach were 12th.
