‘English Only’ Initiative
Just as I’d convinced myself to vote for Bradley for governor (lesser of two evils?) your paper hits me with the headline, “Bradley Assails ‘English Only’ Idea as ‘Evil.’ ”
It could tear us apart as a nation, he says. Just exactly what does he think is happening now with bilingual classes, ballots, TV and radio in Spanish to mention a few. (Canada must be snickering.)
Doesn’t he see that instead of helping the immigrant learn English we are only making it easier for him to remain in his own little barrio immersed in the language he brought with him?
