For Laker Fans, Parking’s a Problem

Because the most immediate parking areas around the Forum are privately owned, fans generally pay more to park at Laker games.

Whereas most who attend Clipper games at the downtown Sports Arena can park at state-owned lots for $2, Laker fans are charged $4 to park in the Forum lot. Of the 3,300 spaces available, 348 are reserved and available only to season ticket-holders at $7.50 a game.

Obviously, with an average attendance of 16,826 last season--a Laker record in the 17,505-seat arena--the Forum lot can’t accommodate everybody. Across the street, the Hollywood Park race track charges $5, sometimes parking up to 3,500 cars. Others fans pay various rates in private areas such as gasoline stations.

Also, ticket prices for the 1986-87 season have risen, with approximately one-third of all the seats increasing by at least $5.

Last season, seats were $60, $39.50, $33.50, $29.50, $23.50, $19.50, $14.50, $11.50, $9.50 and $7 a game. For the 1986-87 season, prices will be $60, $44.50, $34.50, $19.50, $14.50, $11.50, $9.50 and $7. Prices for the 126 floor seats ringing the court have been increased from $125 to $150 a game.
