The murder conviction of Larry Alan Davison, 25, of Palmdale, in the fatal shooting of Palmdale High School football player Stanley Fahey, 17, has been overturned by a state Court of Appeal. The appellate justices said Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert D. Fratianne wrongly precluded questioning of two key prosecution witnesses which could have led to their impeachment. Both witnesses, who placed Davison at the scene of the killing and related his partial admission of the crime, were in jail when they disclosed their information, and the justices said the trial court should have permitted examination of their motives and possible bias. Davison and Von Maurice Harris, 26, of Lancaster, were convicted of robbing a Palmdale dairy and convenience store on Dec. 7, 1982, of $356.53 and taking Fahey, an employee, into the desert and shooting him in the back after ordering him to run.
