Iran has threatened to attack Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or any other Persian Gulf country that gives Iraq money to buy arms to attack Iranian oil facilities. The Iranian warning, the strongest and most direct so far to Iraq’s allies in the region, was contained in an article by Parliament Speaker Hashemi Rafsanjani in the monthly Pasdar-e Islam. “We hit their ships now, but if necessary we will do to countries supporting (Iraqi President) Saddam (Hussein) what we did to Kirkuk,” Rafsanjani wrote, referring to a missile attack on the northern Iraqi oil town.
