Art Fowler, former major league pitcher and pitching coach, will be spending his weekdays in jail for the next several months after being convicted for the third time of driving under the influence of alcohol in Spartanburg, S.C.
After the jury found Fowler, 64, guilty, he also pleaded guilty to a third-offense of driving under suspension.
Fowler was sentenced to 60 days in jail and a $300 fine. A third-offense DUI conviction carries a mandatory minimum 60-day sentence.
Judge C. Anthony Harris ordered that Fowler serve his sentence on weekdays because he earns his living by making public appearances on weekends.
