Two men were arrested early Thursday after they allegedly tried to rob a man outside a restaurant in Orange and then led police on a freeway chase into Los Angeles County, officers said.

Israel Luque Lopez, 20, of Bell and Alejandro Lopez Duarte, 28, who was identified as a transient, were being held on suspicion of attempted armed robbery and auto theft, according to Bob Gustafson of the Orange Police Department.

Gustafson said a man told officers that two men who tried to rob him about 2:45 a.m. in the parking lot of a Denny’s restaurant at 3000 W. Chapman Ave. had fled in a red pickup truck.
