Share

Twenty fishermen aboard a San Pedro boat were to return to port today from a productive two-day albacore trip.

Skipper Gary Nordbye, aboard the 65-foot Outer Limits, reported Wednesday night that his fishermen had more than 150 albacore in the 20- to 25-pound class aboard. They had been fishing 20 to 30 miles from the Cortez Bank, which is about 50 miles southwest of San Clemente Island.

The Outer Limits, which cruises at 15 knots, has been encountering good fishing for other species at the Cortez Bank, too. On one recent trip, Nordbye’s fishermen caught yellowtail to 48 pounds, bluefin tuna to 30 pounds and two white sea bass over 60 pounds.
