SOUND-TRACK FEVER: Geez--sound-track albums are so confusing these days. Which brings us to “Nothing in Common,” the Arista sound track to the new Tom Hanks and Jackie Gleason film. Since the film makers apparently couldn’t decide who should write the title song, they commissioned two of them instead. One song, by Christopher Cross, features the film’s title in its refrain (and plays at the opening of the film), though it’s officially called “Loving Strangers.” The actual title song, which is the first single from the album, is “Nothing in Common” by the Thompson Twins. . . . You won’t have any problems figuring out who’s performing the title song to the upcoming Whoopi Goldberg film “Jumping Jack Flash,” due out later this fall from Warner Bros. Aretha Franklin has cut a new rendition of the classic Rolling Stones rocker, with Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood at the production helm. . . . Meanwhile, songwriter Barry Mann (who co-wrote “You Lost That Loving Feeling,” the Righteous Brothers hit that got a big replay in “Top Gun”) has started a new production company with industry exec Steve Tyrell to oversee music for sound tracks. The pair have signed Rickie Lee Jones to perform “Love Is the Light Inside Your Heart” for an upcoming Filmation animated film called “The New Adventures of Pinocchio.” They’ve also recruited Bonnie Raitt to sing “Stand Up to the Night,” the theme from the film version of “Extremities,” which stars Farrah Fawcett and is due out later this month.
