AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: The Beatles’ version of “Twist and Shout” was such a hit with young moviegoers (it was featured prominently in both Rodney Dangerfield’s “Back to School” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”) that it’s been re-released as a single by Capitol Records. The move comes after a host of radio stations, including KIIS-FM, added the 1964 song to their playlists. . . . Journey’s new drummer is Amat Anur, whom guitarist Neal Schon has dubbed “the Jimi Hendrix of the drums.” . . . The Police has begun recording its new album, which will be co-produced by Laurie Latham, who’s worked with Paul Young and Squeeze. . . . The Jesus and Mary Chain has just released a new English single, “Some Candy Talking.” . . . And the blues just never die. One of our favorite blues tunes, Willie Dixon’s “You Can’t Judge a Book by Lookin’ at the Cover,” is on two country current albums, one version by John Anderson, the other by Hank Williams Jr. (with vocal help from Huey Lewis). Meanwhile, another Dixon gem, “I’m Wanted,” is slated to appear on a new live George Thorogood album.
