Nastassja Kinski and Rex Harrison will star in a new version of “Anastasia” for NBC. The four-hour drama, to be called “Anastasia: The Story of Anna Anderson,” will be filmed in Vienna. It examines the story of Anderson, who may have been the Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia. Susan Lucci will co-star.

Another project being remade for NBC is “Babes in Toyland,” with new music by Leslie Bricusse and two songs from the Victor Herbert operetta of the same name. The three-hour film is being shot in Munich with a cast that includes Eileen Brennan, Pat Morita, Richard Mulligan and Drew Barrymore. It’s due for broadcast at Christmas.

What’s a mother to do when her son falls in love with a lady her age? That’s the question posed by “Love 40,” a TV movie for CBS starring Ellen Burstyn, Tuesday Weld, Patrick Cassidy, Don Murray and Eli Wallach.

Garry Shandling, who filled in recently as host of “The Tonight Show” while Johnny Carson was on vacation, will be starring in a comedy series for the Showtime cable channel in September. Six episodes of “Garry Shandling’s Show” will be produced, focusing on such matters as relationships, career and fantasies.

Briefly noted: Kate Jackson, who stars in “Scarecrow and Mrs. King” on CBS, is directing the first episode for the new season. . . . James Brolin is doing the same for the ABC series in which he appears, “Hotel”. . . . Glenn Frey will star in a music special for the Showtime cable channel early next year.

Ted Danson of “Cheers” is starring in and co-producing “When the Bough Breaks,” a TV movie for NBC based on the mystery novel by Jonathan Kellerman. Danson plays a psychologist investigating a child-molestation ring. Others in the cast are Richard Masur, Rachel Ticotin, Kim Miyori and James Noble.

Returns: John Saxon, who turned up on an episode of “Falcon Crest” two seasons ago as Tony Cumson, father of Lance (Lorenzo Lamas), will be a regular on the CBS soap opera this season, trying to win his son back from Angela (Jane Wyman). . . . Wayne Northrop is reprising his role as Michael Cullen on “Dynasty.” During the first season of the ABC series, Cullen was Blake Carrington’s chauffeur.

What to do against the enormously popular “Cosby Show” on NBC? CBS will finish up the summer with six weeks of a game show. “The Price Is Right,” already part of the CBS daytime schedule, will be seen on Thursdays from 8 to 9 p.m. beginning Aug. 14. Bob Barker will host.

Sherlock Holmes is coming back. CBS has ordered a new TV movie, “The Return of Sherlock Holmes,” in which the famed British detective is found in frozen suspension and brought to life in the 1980s. He’ll be played by Michael Pennington, with his Watson this time a female, played by Margaret Colin, formerly of the comedy series “Foley Square.”
