Ralphs ‘Megastore’ to Open in Canoga Park

Ralphs Grocery Co. said it will open in Canoga Park one of its 14 “megastores” planned for Southern California. The store, scheduled to open Sept. 16, will be on the site of the former Zody’s department store on the southwestern corner of Roscoe and Topanga Canyon boulevards.

The opening of the new store will allow the company to close a smaller Ralphs on the northwestern corner of the intersection. Gene Brown, a Ralphs spokesman, said the company will staff the new store with the 100 employees from the existing outlet and with 100 transferees and new employees.

He said the future of the existing Ralphs store at Sherman Way and Winnetka Boulevard in Canoga Park has not been decided.
