Huntington Beach : 16-Year-Old Wounded in Handgun Accident
A 16-year-old Huntington Beach youth who was shot accidentally by another youth with a .45-caliber handgun remained in good condition Thursday, police said.
Both teen-agers were inside a residence Wednesday about 1:20 p.m. when a semiautomatic pistol accidentally discharged, a police spokesman said. Police did not release the names of the youths involved.
The injured youth, who was shot in the upper shoulder, later collapsed attempting to cross a street.
He was taken to the trauma center at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital.
Police detained both youths on suspicion of receiving stolen property after it was learned that the pistol had been stolen from a vehicle in Fountain Valley. They were released to their parents.
