A 22-year-old man is being held without bail in County Jail on suspicion of murder and burglary in connection with a slaying in Santee, San Diego County sheriff’s homicide detectives said Saturday.

Jeffrey Rousey was arrested late Friday in connection with the death of Brent Mead, 30, also of Santee. The victim, who had been shot and stabbed, was found Tuesday by a roommate at the home they shared.

Detectives said that the statewide fingerprint identification system that was recently installed by county law enforcement agencies was instrumental in Rousey’s arrest.

Investigators also said that more than one person was involved in the slaying of Mead and the burglary but declined to elaborate further.
