The 7,000-member Los Angeles Police Department is the best dressed in the nation, the National Assn. of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors has decided. The city’s basic blue serge, long-sleeved uniforms for patrol officers were awarded top prize in the association’s national contest, beating out the uniforms of thousands of other city, state and county police agencies. Baltimore won last year’s award.
