Two teen-agers were killed late Monday and a third was injured when the car they were traveling in slammed at high speed into a tree on Black Mountain Road, police said.

Justin Lee Leveau, 16, of Mira Mesa, drove from his job at Vons Grocery store in Rancho Bernardo with Brett Marshall Sachs, 17, of Rancho Penasquitos, also a Vons employee. The car Leveau was driving apparently spun out of control and struck a tree near the 10100 block of Black Mountain Road.

Leveau died instantly in the 8:30 p.m. crash, and Sachs died at the scene shortly thereafter. About 20 firefighters were needed to extricate the two from the wreckage along with a third passenger, Troy Thomas, 17, whom paramedics took to Palomar Memorial Hospital.
