“Lady Beth: The Steelworker’s Play” is scheduled for a free performance at the Cal State L.A. University Playhouse on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. “Lady Beth” refers to the Bethlehem Steel plant in Vernon that was shut down in 1982 after 52 years.

The closure, in response to foreign competition, resulted in the loss of 2,000 jobs. Six of the people who lost their jobs perform in the social drama, reminiscing about their working experiences. The performance starts the company on a national tour of the play.

Contact Emelia Lomeli in student activities at (213) 224-2373 for complimentary tickets. The entrance to free parking in Lot K is from Valley Boulevard, which runs into Taseo Rancho Castillo Avenue.
