Republican candidate for lieutenant governor Mike Curb has lost support and is virtually even with Democratic Lt. Gov. Leo McCarthy in the latest public opinion sampling of pollster Mervin Field. Field’s California Poll measured opinion in late July and early August and found 38% of those responding favoring Curb and 41% favoring McCarthy. The last time Field polled voters on the race, in May, Curb had a 46% to 41% lead.
