A growing majority of Americans supports an outright ban on the portrayal of sexual violence in magazines, movies and videocassettes, according to the Gallup Poll. In the latest survey, conducted July 11 to 14, 73% favor a ban in their communities on the sale or rental of videocassettes displaying sexual violence (up 10 points from a March, 1985, survey), 74% want a ban on theaters that feature movies depicting sexual violence (up 6 points) and 73% want a ban on magazines that show sexual violence (up 3 points).
