DEL MAR — California-bred Bold Jade responded to the strong urging of jockey Eddie Delahoussaye to withstand the stretch challenge of favored Chisos and win the $54,000 De Anza Stakes Wednesday before 21,086 fans at Del Mar.
Bold Jade took the lead in the upper stretch and had enough in reserve for a half-length victory over the hard-charging Chisos, who with Biloxi Blues formed the 1-2 favored Wayne Lukas entry.
Fleet Jet was third, with Bidders fourth in the field of seven 2-year-olds. Biloxi Blues was last.
Bold Jade went the six furlongs in 1:11 and returned $14.80, $3.40 and $2.10.
