The filing period for the elected boards of several lesser-known eastern Ventura County government agencies closed this week, but elections for many positions were canceled when no opposing candidates surfaced.

If only one candidate seeks a particular seat, he or she is automatically declared the winner. If no one files for a post, the Board of Supervisors appoints someone. According to the Ventura County office of clerk and recorder, the filings include:

Camarillo Health Care District:

There will be no election because only two candidates, incumbents Jeanne Stratton-Crooke and Jeanne T. Scott, filed for the two available seats.

Triunfo County Sanitation District:

There will be no election because incumbent Norma Callero was the only person seeking the one available seat.

Ventura County Resource Conservation District:

There will be no election in Divisions 1 and 2 because no one filed for the seat open in each. Also, no election was called in Division 3, where only incumbent John De Boni filed.

Conejo Recreation and Park District:

Three seats are open. Incumbents Michael D. Berger and George Hatcher will face Dennis Gillette and Mike Wooden. Incumbent Doris Granholm is not seeking reelection.

Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District:

There will be no election because incumbents Gary S. Gasperino and Nancy C. Bush were the only candidates for the two open seats.

Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District:

Two seats will be filled. Incumbents Don Funk and James L. Meredith will face Albert Rosen and Bill Graves.

Calleguas Municipal Water District:

In Division 3, incumbent Kurt O. Reithmayr will face Kirk Ledbetter and Richard L. Bardin. No election will be held in Division 4 because only incumbent Patrick H. Miller filed. In Division 5, incumbent Carl E. Ward will face William Frame.
