Ira Scott, who claims he kicked the late President Harry S. Truman for pushing Scott’s girl, celebrated his 100th birthday last week at the Valley View Retirement Home in Garden Grove.
Scott said that he kicked Truman on a Joplin, Mo., street right after World War I broke out.
“He (Truman) was a soldier in the militia. A fire had broken out in a restaurant. He pushed my girl down. He just got in my way. I took a whomp at him and kicked him under the chin,” Scott recalled.
The centenarian, who said he wants to live to 112 and be shot by a jealous husband, said he didn’t vote for Truman decades after their confrontation in Missouri.
