A man and a woman were killed and their two children were seriously injured when an oncoming car crossed the center divider lines and crashed head-on into their van on California 126 near Magic Mountain. The driver of the other car, also injured, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving. The California Highway Patrol said the parents, who were not identified, were in the front seats of the van when the crash occurred, and were pronounced dead at the scene. One of their sons, about 6 years old, was removed from the wreckage by Los Angeles County Fire Department rescue crews using “jaws of life” machinery, and was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital where he was reported in serious condition. His 16-year-old brother crawled from the wreckage unassisted, but was also reported in serious condition with internal injuries. The driver of the oncoming car, also not identified, was taken to the same hospital where he was reported in good condition.
