The Council Monday approved an allocation of $79,954 in federal Community Block Grant funds for the completion of the Community Service Center at Treder Park on Pine Avenue after receiving notification of the additional money for 1986-87.
The center--which will be the city’s first--will house the city’s Parks and Recreation Department and be open for use by various community groups.
The cost of the center, originally set at $1 million, has risen considerably. Interior improvements and an off-site parking lot have added $357,000 to the budget. The city’s Community Block Grant budget has been revised to pay for completion of the center.
The center is scheduled to open in late November.
