Sen. Pete Wilson (R-Calif.) announced a $22,698,021 contract to refurbish a Navy destroyer at Long Beach Naval Shipyard. The 12-month contract is for the complete refurbishing of the USS Fletcher, which was commissioned in July, 1980. The anti-submarine warship is normally manned by a crew of 320.
