Culver City : Marina Place Design OKd

Share

The Planning Commission last week approved the mixed-use design concept offered by the Prudential Insurance Co. for the Marina Place project. The design idea will be considered by the City Council on Sept. 8.

The council must approve the concept before Prudential can proceed with construction plans. The company must also receive a zoning variance and final design approval from the council before it can build.

Prudential wants to build a combined office, residential and retail complex on an 18-acre parcel in Culver City that is surrounded by the Venice section of Los Angeles.

The company submitted the new design after a previous plan that included five high-rise office towers was opposed by some Venice residents, who said it was too large and would cause traffic and parking problems.
