Hewlett-Packard announced an agreement with Zenith Data Systems in which a new model of the HP ThinkJet personal printer will be packaged with Zenith portable computers sold to the Internal Revenue Service for use by field auditors. HP estimates that as many as 18,000 ThinkJet printers will be sold to Zenith over the life of the one-year contract . . . Trans European Airways has ordered five Boeing 737-300 jets, and Air Malta has ordered two 737-200s, with a combined value of about $185 million, Boeing reported . . . Security Pacific Automation announced that the automation of Security Pacific National Bank’s 38 Business Banking Centers has been completed . . . Short interest on the New York Stock Exchange rose 6.36 million shares in the month ended Aug. 15 to a record total of 374.9 million shares . . . New World Pictures said its board authorized a stock repurchase program whereby the company would buy up to 500,000 shares of its outstanding common stock in the open market.
