The State : Gann Appeal to Be Heard

Share

The state Supreme Court agreed to hear the appeal of politically conservative activist Paul Gann, who wants his argument in favor of his Proposition 61 to appear in the Nov. 4 election voter pamphlet as he wrote it and not as it was ordered rewritten by a Superior Court judge. Proposition 61 would set limits on the pay of local and state government public officials and employees. Gann’s ballot argument was ordered rewritten on grounds that it was misleading. The Superior Court, however, left Gann’s name on the rewritten argument. Gann also is contesting a statement on the actual ballot that the proposal could cost taxpayers $7 billion.
